Buenos Aires, Feb. 25 (NA) – On the anniversary of the murder of Kim Gómez, the 7-year-old girl who was dragged for 15 blocks during a robbery in the city of La Plata, her father referred to the oral and public trial against one of the accused and lamented: “Everything is very difficult.” On Feb. 25, 2025, the victim was with her mother in the Altos de San Lorenzo neighborhood, where they were mugged by thieves to steal their red Fiat Palio at the corner of 72nd Avenue and 25th Street. Florencia Barraza, the mother, testified in the oral and public trial where the responsibility of the 18-year-old (he was 17 at the time of the crime) is being determined and recalled the moments leading up to her daughter's murder: the perpetrators forced her out of the vehicle, threw her to the ground, and fled at high speed. Kim, who was in the back seat with her seatbelt on, apparently tried to get out but got caught and, consequently, was dragged for 15 blocks before the suspects abandoned her at the scene. The chase ended when the criminals crashed into a utility pole, causing their vehicle to fall into a ditch, and they ran into an open field before authorities arrived. Marcos Gómez spoke with the Argentine News Agency and described the development of the trial at the Juvenile Responsibility Court No. 1 of the La Plata Judicial Department for the crime of robbery-murder as “tough.” “Several days of the trial have already passed, and it’s very difficult to witness all that. Friday would be the last hearing,” stated Kim's father. The man considered that “everything is very clear” because “there is a lot of evidence, so all that's left is to wait,” while expressing his sadness over the first anniversary of the event: “It's very hard.” In this sense, Marcos showed his resilience in the face of pain through a solidarity initiative: “I am leading a school supplies collection to help the Real Infantil club and convey a message about recovering education.”
In this case, a 14-year-old boy is also accused, and since he is not criminally liable, he is only being held in a maximum-security institute for two years and under interdisciplinary treatment.
